Windows booting at 60%+ ram usage

i have an hp pavilion g62 notebook and it's been running fine since i got it. a few days ago it started to boot up with 60%+ of the ram being used with no programs running other than avira antivirus and networx. whenever i open a game or a program that uses a lot of ram for a while then close it, the RAM usage drops down to normal (anywhere from 28% to 39%). how exactly would i go about correcting this or at least finding the source of the problem?

    Hello!

First, how much RAM do you have at 60%+ (1GB, 2GB, etc)? How much to have at 28% - 39%? Do they match (just a quick way to test if you RAM is flaking out on you)?

Then I would try is booting into Safe Mode. Just to see if Windows isn't the culprit. If everything is fine in Safe Mode, bring up the Run prompt (Windows key + R). Go to the startup tab and uncheck everything. Then restart in Normal Mode. If everything is fine, then it's probably something on that startup list. From that point you can recheck everything, one at a time, to see what is causing the issue (might take some time).
