Shutdown / Restart is taking forever!

    Shutdown / Restart is taking forever!


    Need to figure out why shutting down or restarting my PC is taking FIVE MINUTES or longer, or when the moment I start unplugging USB devices, now it shuts down right as I told it. Is there a diagnostic in Windows to figure out what's holding up the shutdown process?

    Are you able to see and use these usb devices and are they flash drives?

    I have 11 different kinds of USB devices. Some of them use the USB 3.0 ports because I don't have a powered hub to stuck some of my other devices. Speaking of which, I might have to get a new external hard drive because the connections are flaky and it could go completely dead just anytime.

    Had started taking the Webcam off the USB ports, and that's when the system shut down then. Don't know whether the keyboard was also causing it, because that too got unplugged. Going to have to do some cable management because all of these wires are all tangled up.

    I also forgot to mention that putting the system to sleep with my USB capture card plugged in caused problems, because the system would just hang until I reset the system or I unplugged the device. Though I could check the setting in Power Options to see if Hybrid Sleep has been switched on or not.

    I also have a Card Reader that's internally installed, and a USB flash drive with ReadyBoost on it: A 16 GB "Gorilla Drive".

    I've found that a strategy for these devices takes time and care. I would look into a good powered USB hub but always plug mouse, keyboard and the vitals into the back io ports. Changing these around has even created issues so if this happens again then hard power down and reboot then try to close normally a couple of times so Windows and the rig can work together.
