    System restore and Java

Earlier this morning I noticed that I tried to update a java plug in to work on a particular site. In this process I noticed for the first time that I had the 32 bit Java installed and my desktop is the 64 bit. So, I thought I should download the latter version and in the doing so, I got rid of all Java add ons in Firefox, including the FF java version. ..that apparently was a mistake and so I thought I would try to get my system restored to a previous date...but win 7 does not seem to offer previous dates, only today's date. So I tried that and it did not bring back all those java files that I got rid of. Am I missing something about SR ? Why doesn't it offer previous points like XP did? I looked at the recycle bin and all I see there are the "install' downloads of previous Java versions. I later found out that the 32 and 64 bit java can co-exist. I also wondered why would there also be a separate version of Java for FF? Any ideas how I can get my system back to the way it was, excluding today's date? I suppose there is no guarantee that I could get all those java programs I deleted back anyway.

If no system restore point was created then you can't get back to when you had java installed, my guess is that your only option would be to reinstall java manually if you can't get your system back to an earlier date

When I had XP and used SR, points were automatically made by the program. I never created one, though I know one can. This time, I noticed a check box which i did not noticed the last time I used SR and it gave me more dates...actually, just one date prior to my problem. I chose that and now all my Java installation is back again.
