Strange overheating problem in windows 7
Hi!
Recently after installing windows 7, my acer 5715z laptop has been randomly overheating. I've cleaned the heatsink and everything, but the problem seems to be driver- or settings related. Every now and then, the laptop fan stops spinning, causing the cpu temperature to rise until it automaticly shuts off at 100°. Weird thing is, if I put the laptop on battery power when it starts heating up, the laptop fan starts spinning again and cpu temp cools down again. I've looked everywhere in the windows 7 power settings and tried programs such as speedfan but it seems i can't control the fan speed. I've configured 'core temp' to put the laptop in sleep mode when cpu temperature rises above 80° so it doesn't just shut down instantly at 100°. I've contacted the Acer helpdesk about this but they just say to reinstall windows vista... I've updated pretty much everything except the bios. Any help?
