New Computer/Win 7, Power Plan settings aren't recognized

Hi, I am having trouble with the Power Plan Settings. The default settings were not what I wanted so I have tried to change them several times. I chose NEVER, on all options, saved them and even rebooted a couple times. The settings in Ctrl Panel stay at what I changed them to but the computer does not recognize them. It continually goes to sleep, display goes down after 1 minute of being idle.

I tried contacting the Live Chat, explained my issues, told her what I had already done, and now was contacting them. She didn't ask me any questions other than what I had done to troubleshoot and sent me to a link that explains what I already knew and done several times. No help at all...I've been searching for help on the net and finally found this forum. I am hoping that someone here has had the same issues and knows what I can do. It also won't accept my change requiring a password when I sign into the computer. I don't want to have to sign in. changed that to NO, but it still requires a password.

I also made sure my windows has all the updates.

Thanks for any help. Nothing worse than reading in an idle mode only to have the screen go down after 1 minute, requiring I sign back in..

Do you have any bloatware of third party programs that might be set to mess with screen settings?

Windows found no integrity violations

OR

What is bloatware? I ordered this online on HP website. Everything came loaded on it. I just got the computer a few days ago and have had this problem from the time I set it up. I will run the scan shortly and post the results. Thanks for getting back to me.

Bloatware is the junk that is preloaded on most computers. Trial games, hp software etc. Bloatware brings down the cost of the pc as the companies pay hp money and other manufacturers to load bloatware (advertising junk) on the computer.

You can remove it by using a guide like this:

You can also try calling hp support and ask them to help.

I'm having a similar problem. The hard drive on my Dell All-in-One desktop crashed and Dell replaced the drive with another Win7 64 bit--which I like a lot--already loaded.

But I changed the setting so I won't have to log in each time after the computer wakes up, but it doesn't take. I've turned off the computer and turned it back on with no effect. I don't think I have much bloatware (I like the old term, shovelware).

Since I had to start over after the crash I've loaded: Photoshop Elements, MS Word, Thunderbird, AVG, and Firefox. I also edited the registry to swap the caps lock and control keys.

Any ideas, anyone?
