C drive full
Hi, I have a 320 GB hard disk (Windows 7 shows 297 GB), and it has been showing me it's nearly out of space (less than 10%) in the past few months. I have uninstalled all unnecessary programs and moved most of my files to a second drive. I could not spare anymore. I could not believe I have used such amount of space so I ran a check on the c drive.
The drive "properties" itself shows my files used up 270 GB, but when I selected all the directories and files ( including system files) under C: drive and check their "properties", it shows all the files on c: only occupy 98 GB. That's including the hiberfil.sys (6 GB) and pagefile.sys (8 GB). I have also check my system restore settings and it shows it has used about 8GB for restore points. I also have auto-defrag run weekly.
That means I have 200 GB missing!
I have searched on the forums and most of them saying the culprits usually are pagefiles and hibernation using large amount of disk space. It doesn't seem to be it in my case. Does anyone know any other potential hidden files and how can I locate them to clean them up?
Many thanks.
