System File Checker Errors - CBS.log

    Hi,

For some reason, I started getting a Windows 7 Validation/Activation window pop-up. At first I thought it was a possible malicious software attempting to get access, but I confirmed from the Windows website that it was legit. I contacted MS Support and a support tech entered the numeric information to reset the activation. He also ran SFC and deleted some old entries in the registry pertaining to old antivirus software. He also found a key in the registry, "Conduit," that he indicated was a malicious software and deleted that as well. By the way, I was getting the Windows Validation pop-up even though my system indicated my Win 7 Pro x64 was activated. We closed the support session and I thought all was well.

A few hours later the Windows 7 Validation/Activation window pop-up appeared again. I again contact MS Support and the tech again activated my Windows 7 by entering the numeric code although my system indicated the OS was activated. He also ran a few programs; HitmanPro and RogueKiller. The Roguekiller didn't complete, because it appear to be frozen due to the fact that it ran for almost two hours and didn't appear to be making a progress. However, just before he ran the two programs, he ran SFC again and it indicted a problem that the system couldn't fix pertaining to the CBS.log. I indicated to the Support tech that thought the SFC errors were related to the previous tech's deletions in the registry. He thought that could be the problem as well. After the third reboot, the Support Tech wasn't responding to the chat so I ended the Support Session.

Now I'm trying to resolve the SFC error. When I go to the CBS.log to read what it logged, I get the "Access Denied" pop-up.

What is the solution to get access to the CBS.log? The text from SFC is copied below as well as a screen shot of the "Access denied" pop-up.

I think that's the first step.

However, I don't think the Win 7 Validation Issue is resolved, because I expect the pop-up window will appear again.

    Thanks for your assistance.

    Regards
