I had two of these drives in RAID 0 and Vista gave me a 5.9. So I could possibly get a SSD for my operating system and use these for data/ backup? I have a HIS H487FN1GP 1GB GDDR5 graphics card (default clocks). It seems to work pretty well. The only problem is I had to get an after market cooler because it came with a 3-pin fan and it sounded like a hurricane.
What can I get out of HD Tune?
Yes there are some examples of SSD benchmarks in the othere HDD perfromance thread.

SSD HD Tune exemple (a "slow" one) https://www.sevenforums.com/177413-post243.html

Best I have seen it from 2 SSDs in a RAID0.

    They are still pretty pricey....

WOW, these SDD's seem supersonic! They are expensive and GB limited. I have read of degradation over time; is this factual?

From what I have read, yes. But a mechanical drive will fail eventually as well.
I will wait for the $$$/GB to drop as I don't need the increased performance THAT bad.

i found this thread so thought this would be fun, then i realised that i'd just updated my graphics drivers, so i needed to retest.

i wasn't very pleased with the results though! needless to say, i've gone back to the old drivers!

WOW....... I am still running the v8.6 driver and get a WEI of 7.3 on both business and 3D graphics on a Sapphire HD4830.

When you switched back to the 9.6 driver did the WEI scores return to their previous values?

yes they did - guess which drivers i chose to stick with?

@fireman: you get the same scores with your fancy RAID setup as i do with my crappy single deathstar? i guess we can conclude that these numbers don't count for much in the real world...

Well, have you found a case of a single SATA, non-RAID, getting a WEI HDD score above 5.9?

It could be possible. Friend of mine has max 5.9 Vista rating and he doesn't have a RAID setup. Not tested it on Windows 7. Will find out what he gets when I take it round for him on Monday.
