Have we been doing some WEI score hacking?
Erm Yes. My real one is only 7.0!
I was kinda disappointed that even though I built my whole system with the highest spec components I STILL ONLY GET 7.1! WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO GET 7.9!!

    Slight RAM tweak.

No, I had issues with under power 750 watt, video card and system crashes with early betas of vista. to correct I added second power supply 1000 watt leaving first to power board, and some of drives other powers video and remaining drives. yes over kill and impossible to move double case is pretty heavy but power is not causing blue screens. I have reached the end of where this systemm will go. it is functional, pretty fast and stable. I do photography and printing not a gamer. Next one will be a MAC
Photography is also my PC's main function, aside from being itself . I am now using Lightroom as my main image software but have CS4 Suite too. But no Mac for moi ever.

For reference, how do you get the second PSU to light up - don't they normally have to be plugged into a motherboard to function? Something with the front panel switch connections?

    Happy shooting!

That looks like a Google satellite view of the mall near my house ...

BTW, I had to throttle back my CPU from 204 BCLK to 200 so I could wake up properly. At 204 waking only lead to limbo state and would have to power off and restart. 200 proved to be the highest BCLK at ~DDR3-1600 that wakes up properly. So I've gone from 3.87GHz @DDR3-1627 to 3.80GHz @ 1603GHz, but I'm still getting exactly the same over-the-top WEI.

My current settings disable Turbo mode I'm guessing because I explicitly set the CPU multiplier to 19x. When I had it set to 21x (with lower BCLK) Turbo mode would kick in, and I would get 4GHz but at a top DDR3-1450, which only gave me a memory WEI of 7.6 and same CPU of 7.6 . Wonder which is the better trade-off for actual work?

What's a good benchmark for work performed rather than component speed?

Get rid of 6GB RAM and you'll be able to OC the memory much higher. That's what I did. Now I have three spare DIMMs . I got the six-pack as a deal at Newegg, so I don't feel bad .

What are you clocking your CPU at? You should be doing better than my lowly (yet highly overclockable!) 920!

I don't know how much wood a woodchuck would chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood.

The biggest strain I place on my system is video compression and/or conversion. With the pending deployment of DirectX 11 vid cards, I can only imagine how much more capable my C2D system will become.

My mobo allows me to save to configs, and I keep a stock 2.66 and an OC 3.45. The 3.45 does not reduce the video processing time as much as I expected. Pre-7, the dual core was sufficient. I am born of stubs - where is my USB3? I need a new mobo!

I occasionally make a DVD / BD using Nero, which loads up all 8 VCPUs pretty well during parts of the process. But I'm always OC'ed currently at 3.8 and memory at 1600, since it's a stable config I can 100% stress out for over 2 hours. I haven't done a DVD in a while, though. I have a vanilla OC @ 3.6 @ DDR-1100 with vanilla auto parameters, and my current edged but stable config saved in the BIOS. For stock I figure I just hit clear settings .

I'd still like to know how you're getting two 295s to run on a 500W PSU. The ones I've looked at have a minimum of a 650/680 PSU (each).
