I had some problems installing 7000 as well and the same in 6936 right at the end when it seemed to be installing the display driver, the screen went blank the monitor went into standby and never came on again and the same as you I left it for a while but nothing and I had to reset the system.

The way I managed to get round it was to leave the partly installed OS on there and try the install again as the first thew of times it happened was after a format and every time it would go blank when it was installing the display driver.

So I have no idea what the problem is but that worked for me, I would prefer it I could have just installed fresh without the muck around but maybe as you found disabling the OC might have the same result and that is probably the best thing to do anyway when installing your OS.

    Hi John,

It's weird. I just have the 3rd partition on my hd for 7000 - about 23gb. 1st partition is still Vista and still the System partition.

The hd is a very cheap Maxtor 160gb drive with 2mb cache - yet it gets a WEI of 5.7, which isn't a bad score.

No idea why the better hd's get poor scores.

WEI on windows 7 baffles me.....

do you OC joe..?? if not that's a stock Q6600 & 800mhz RAM pulling 7.1... yet i've seen i7's pulling that & less...& what about DDR3..??, i mean the bandwidth of the lowest DDR3, 1333mhz over 800 is quite significant..??
