Just ordered and set up an 1205T hence I know that a little EEE-PC would have to grow up A LOT to be fit to hold a candle to its big brother under my desk!Damn, I am unmasked
Anyways, it's a nice little toy when you get around a lot, just hate those stupid shiny surfaces that everyone else seems to find so fancy that manufacturers of electronic devices barely offer anything else at the moment.
Each EeePc is fit for a certain kind of needs, that concern just a few people, including me.Anyways, it's a nice little toy when you get around a lot, just hate those stupid shiny surfaces that everyone else seems to find so fancy that manufacturers of electronic devices barely offer anything else at the moment.
Indeed it's a too weaky laptop (WEI: 2.1), I am used to campare it with an Iphone or a big Smart Phone, but it does its job when you are in the train for several hours, or just want to watch a good film in your bed with in-ears.
Every one does not like this sort of object.
Anyway, I can run GTAIII and UT on it while boring in an amphi, so I really love it
However you're right when you point the fact that manufacturers do not make big effort in order to boost this computer category.. Hopefully it can easily be O/Ced
Don't get me wrong here, IMO it's a great device for what it's meant to do...being mobile! I just don't like the shiny surface which I tend to call "an all-surface power-saving fingerprint-reader".However you're right when you point the fact that manufacturers do not make big effort in order to boost this computer category.. I wouldn't bother about OCing a notebook though, if you have a good one it's build around a thought through thermal and power-consumption design and in most cases OC will just change things for the worse.
EDIT: BTW, I somewhat lost my interest in WEI now that I just tested Resident Evil 5 and it runs like a charm with DirectX10 1920x1200 8xAA and all possible quality settings at maximum! ...now that's what I call a really pleasing EXPERIENCE; I just love the Resident Evil series ever since I had my Playstation! At first I was a little surprised though that you could still sell PC games that don't let your character jump and crouch.
Sorry I just have misunderstood what you wrote. Actually I don't like the black shiny surface too, it was meant to be 'classy' but it becomes very annoying at the end.Don't get me wrong here, IMO it's a great device for what it's meant to do...being mobile! IMO, RE5 is one of the best PC-optimized game ever. I make it run as you do but in 1440x900 resolution with a 'simple' 8800GT.BTW, I somewhat lost my interest in WEI now that I just tested Resident Evil 5 and it runs like a charm with DirectX10 1920x1200 8xAA and all possible quality settings at maximum!
RE5 has an integrated benchmark, like Crysis or the new Just Cause 2, which runs as a 3DMark test and show you how the game is meant to be played. You can even change all the settings in order to get the best fps/quality ratio. Nevertheless I don't think it works as a WEI test.resident evil as a wei test bed? why? pong was not available?
Metro2033 is like Crysis two years ago: no-one can run it with the optimal graphic settings yet, so yes it is going to be the next ultimate benchmarking game.I would consider a heavy game like STALKER or METRO2033 a more appropriate test. Console games play great on any pc because consoles are just really low end pc's.
The second part of your sentence sounds to be wrong to me because you cannot say that GTAIV, Saints Row 2, R6 Vegas 1&2, Assassin's Creed 1&2 etc. are low end pc games. Moreover many of these pristine console games are often very badly optmized for the PC platform.
Swimaf 2004 called... they want your computer back. Did you look into rainmeter?
I just finished Metro 2033 at max specs 1900x1080 the game froze 1 and crashed 2 times on 18 hours of continious gameplay. But I finished it and played at max settings. So now you know your first person that CAN play it at max settings. Just check out my hardware.
P.S. yes all the games you mentioned are really low end when it comes to GPU demand. They in no way compare to the multiplications on STALKER and METRO2033. These are Directx 11 games for god sakes... I am not saying your list of console games are bad, yes people like them w/e but if you can play them with a 200 dollar console and a high end video card is 500 dollars yes believe me they are not hardware demanding.
