if i remember correctly the tests are simple Direct 9 and 10 tests
can you see if the scores change higher or lower with one....
Ummm, so when I have the cards in *non-SLI mode* it should be different, right?

    Problem is, that it ain't....

And, no, I ain't about to remove one of my video cards (except to maybe RMA it with eVGA as twice in the last two days my second monitor has abruptly 'disappeared' from Vista and W7.....

*also*, when in SLI, I run eVGA and it OC's the card....oh, for crying out loud - eVGA is OCing the card / cards (depending upon SLI or not) so of course it is going to get the same result. I bet even money that if you have multiple cards it still shows only benches a single card....

But that is still an extremely low value for the power of these cards....

see if you run simple tests you dont get the performance and maybe even worse performance...
    looky here
Performance Comparison Between Single Configurations And SLI Setups - Review Tom's Hardware : VGA Charts VIII: PCI Express Winter 2005
ok these are old games but there are simpler (in terms of graphics now)
and they are not sli aware or have the coding there....
    but this is my point..
    there are simple directx tests...

    are both the same
    meaning the graphics cards...

OK, so how does one achieve a score higher than 6.0 with these 'simple' tests?

Not really - they're not SLI'd as I am running in dual monitor mode *and* this was before I installed all the OEM drivers - nothing but Windows Update drivers.

I am betting that some of my scores go up just because of drivers the next time I check it.

I redid my install, moving it from the slow WD 250 GB 8 MB Cache drive to my zippy Seagate 500 GB 32MB Cache drive.

    Before:

    Attachment 1421

    After

    Attachment 1422

And I have the Video Cards SLI'd - but my gaming performance went down lol. This also includes all current drivers. I might try the W7 drivers from WU and see if performance increases, cause if it does, I might go back to them.
    johngalt said:
Hmmm - I suppose I need to remove SLI and then revert to the old drivers and then re-enable SLI....

Of course some of my other drivers may also be causing problems, then, as I installed the entire nForce set of drivers as well...

OK, so reading all those posts, I decided that I was going to install XP x64, then Vista x64, and finally W7 x64.

I spent the last 4 days getting XP x64 right - then it hit me - WTF?!? am I doing?

I don't need XP for gaming cause W7 is just as fast, and I don't need Vista for, well, anything, except maybe bragging fights `cause it is a MAK....

So, I formatted the entire boot drive and started from scratch - and lo, and behold! I have the 200 MB boot partition now showing in Disk Management, and I took some benches on install:

Still not good, even after updating Dx from the November Redist and then the December WebSetup, nothing changes - friggin 6.0 my arse!

Of course, this is also 6801, and that may be a factor....
