I buy a new OCZ Vertex SSD and my score stills under 7

I think is imposible to get the perfect score.

I think i need another SSD but no money
I read on a post recently 7Forums to disregard the WEI numbers, as they change often and can be quite tempermental. Mine have changed, causing losts of concern, but when it comes down to it, very little "real" performance changes...at least that I can notice.

    4GB DDR3 OCZ Gold.
    250GB OCZ Vertex SSD 240MBPS-150MBPS.
    HD5770 XFX CF.
    Moteherboard Ma770T-UD3P.

yea it looks like you are running the SSD in IDE mode. you should try AHCI, simple Reg tweak and a bios change will get you into AHCI mode.

also you should check your running it in UMDA 5 not PIO.

just things to check really. as you should be getting over 7.8 with a SSD! as i do with my Intel X-25M 80GB G2.

also give AS SSD a run and see what ya benchmarks are like? should be nice :)

Hello JohnPC, welcome to Seven Forums!

Here's a good tutorial about AHCI if you haven't seen it yet; at the link below.

    Hello,
The WEI numbers have completely dumbfounded me... It is currently 6.0.
My first try at installing Win7 - 64 Ultimate yielded a womping 7.0, limited by the SSD in IDE mode.
    My ATI 5870 was 7.4 I believe.
So then, after having to reinstall using AHCI mode, my SSD went up to 7.3, but my Graphics dropped to 6.0.
After several reinstalls, switching out ATI 5870 to different PCI-E slot, return to IDE mode, & lots of BIOS configuration tinckering, it hasn't budged from the 6.0 mark.
...dumbfounded... but I'm still very impressed with Win7 @ WEI 6.0!
I had the same wei 6.0 score from my graphics, and uninstalling the graphics drivers and reinstalling them a couple times worked. I have a 5850

Tell me this is right. My Patriot Torqx SSD is now the "weak point" in my system if you believe WEI. I don't think it's right, but it's interesting anyway.

    I don't really trust WEI's.
If my machine runs as fast and as good as i want, that'll do it for me :) I don't need to have a 7.x WEI score for that

lol I DO find my WEI strange. That's all. It shows you just how screwed up it is. (my WEI)

BTW - I FINALLY have my system finished (for now) and I'm loving it. Can't wait to stress this card. I am running afterburner's stress tool and it's staying very cool.
