you can o.c. those cards all day, but it wont make any difference with your wei. i got my 2 9800gx2's running at 750/1100/1800 and the stock clocks are 600/1000/1500 and it wont make any difference with my wei. its the overall graphics card that makes the difference in wei. thats why i mentioned the GT212. that should bump up the podium.

I did get it up to 6.6 with new drivers and percision OC 700/1500/1200
And increased Hard Drive from 7.2 to 7.5, but I think thats going to be all I can get short of new technology coming out on the video side, or switching to the intell SSD's on the HD side, I'm using the 7.000 64 bit version that microsoft released, and waiting on RC1, I dont down load leaked stuff unless I know the source.

I just went from integrated graphics to a cheap 9500GT card and my score went from 3.0 to 4.5. Not a bad jump for $65. (no screenshot - at work)

On build 7077 my score jumped to 4.6...something to note.

Anyone know why it only goes up to 7.9 and not a round number like 10?

I guess it's the same reason Vista only went to 5.9 instead of 10, who knows.

The higher the score , the more it costs to move up, and the less bang you get for the buck. IE: it's easier to go from a 3 to a 4 than it is to go from a 5 to a 6, and dam near impossable to go from a 6 to a 7.

According to a quote from microsoft, the hardware field is constanly changing, and what it would take to get a 10 today wouldn't be a 10 tomorow, so they implemented a system that they are going to review every 18 to 28 months. they said they didn't want to go with a set # because they didn't want to move the bar every time they came out with a new product, by increasing the score they dont have to change the earler specifications. It probably will be a a score of 1-10 next time microsoft releases a OS, around 2012.

Quote: (from Vista Welcome screen/performance/What do these #'s mean)
"The base scores currently range from 1 to 5.9. The Windows Experience Index is designed to accommodate advances in computer technology. As hardware speed and performance improves, higher base scores will be introduced. However, the standards for each level of the index stay the same. For example, a computer scored as a 2.8 will remain a 2.8 unless you decide to upgrade the computer's hardware.
