Very slow response in Windows Explorer

    Thumbnail Caching


    I'm not sure how to disable thumbnail caching for just one folder. I've disabled entirely like this:

    Thumbnail Cache - Enable or Disable

    But take a look at the links below that article and maybe try this:

    Thumbnail Cache - Clear and Reset

    If you clear the thumbnail cache folders containing images will initially be slower to open but once the cache has been rebuilt it should get faster.

    Something to try


    Here's a quick test.

    Navigate to your problem folder and open it then click Tools> Folder Options and set them like this:

    You will see icons rather than images. If it then opens faster it might be time to scan the folder for corrupt images or possibly even use a different image viewer.
