Weird random slow motion effect makes PC unusable

OK, so every few weeks, I get a problem where, often when I am watching TV (though that may be a red herring as I often have it on) , the sound becomes completely distorted, and if I try and move the mouse, the cursor will jump rather than move smoothly i.e. as if the framerate has gone down to 1/2 a frame per second.

I also randomly get a problem after rebooting where the graphics are really laggy, and I get a weird framerate like 124fps recorded on my TV viewer, where it should be 50fps, I reboot again & it's usually OK again. Any ideas?

Sounds like ya have a lack of ram or available ram for usage. I see you have about 8gb total. That should be enough for win 7; but; you might want to try expanding that even further if possible. Also; go into task manager and close any programs that you know you dont need open as that should hopefully help.

Thanks but I know it's not a lack of memory as it sometimes occurs when I just have one media player and maybe four tabs on a browser open. Obviously the problem when rebooting can't be to do with lack of memory either ....
