x64 is only faster for applications that make use of more than the RAM limit imposed by 32-bit versions. In many cases, 64 bit Windows is actually slightly slower, for example due to device manufacturers releasing poorly optimized 64-bit drivers compared to their more mature 32-bit counterparts.
I know this is an old thread but Ive never heard so many nays against x64 before.. Im confused maybe because win7 was pre-RTM?
I have an AMD TK-42 (Duo) x64 and after installing 50 gigs of apps, 15 'launch with windows' apps that are heavy on resources and 150 GB's of randoms (jpgs, mp3s etc) it still runs as fast as it did out of the box.
.. and heres the punchline - I only have 3 gigs of RAM : )
i have core2duo 2.2 with 2GB ram... what is good for my system 32/64... thanks
