Explorer.exe process using 25-35% of my i3 cpu

This started in the last couple of days, I leave my PC turned on 24/7 and rarely even reboot so I don't remember whether I might have installed something malicious. Also as I don't have an anti-virus maybe that could be the cause. Any help will be appreciated.

Ok, I've tried killing the explorer.exe process which resulted in everything apart from my browser and my wallpaper disappearing. I then logged off and the logged on again and now explorer.exe is gone. I still don't know the cause of its appearance like that. Any inputs will be appreciated.

    Thanx in advance!
