    Terrible performance issues

I cannot play games. Each minute or so I have a lag for about 1 secons. During suxch lags I am usually killed or miss a good chance. Under Linux on the same machine in the same games there are no lags.

    What should I do?

Start with turning off auto updating in all your running programs, then look at your processes in task manager to see what else is using internet.

The task manager does not show that the CPU is overloaded. The network load is also about 1%.

...neither of the things you reference have a bearing on your 'one second lag'...
look for google updater or bonjour or a process that accesses the internet while you are gaming...

We have many excellent tutorials here at the forums, written by some very knowledgeable people. Heres one you could try if you haven't already.

    Optimize Windows 7

Is this a "new" problem or has it been going on for awhile?
