Chdsk finds the same 10 unindexed orphan files each time

I have been having trouble with Windows acting weird so I ran Chkdsk /F on my 2TB Seagate SATA drive. It reported that it found and fixed issues. However, it didn't really fix anything. Each time it is run it finds the same 10 files and writes a "Recovering" message for each one but at the end it shows "0 unindexed files recovered".

I made a clone of the drive on an identical drive and it now gives exactly the same errors each time as well.

Any idea why Chkdsk can't seem to repair this issue? Or better yet, is there a way that I can fix it without Chkdsk?

Always a good idea to use the Manufacturer's diagnostic Software for testing Hard drives ..

Thanks. I've run Seagate's SeaTools (for Windows and for DOS) and there are no hardware issues found. The problem is these unindexed files that I can't find but Chkdsk finds every time than cannot be recovered and/or deleted.

Yes, I read that, along with several other similar threads before posting my question. The manufacturer's diagnostics find no errors. I cloned the drive to a new identical drive and the problem is exactly the same. Clearly there is some file corruption.

As for the referenced thread, it refers to some things that perhaps I should understand but I don't. For instance, how does one take ownership of System Volume Information. Where is that entity located? It also refers to a Chkdsk folder but that doesn't show up on a file search.

Thanks. I looked at that last night. I can find the log results that have been written to the event log easy enough. The problem is that it doesn't say where it found the unindexed files and it doesn't show any error associated with the recovery effort. It just says that it is recovering each of the files and then show 0 files recovered. Still no error, just 0 successes.

Btw, do you know how the poster in the earlier thread you referenced took ownership of "System Volume Information" and where they found a "Chkdsk folder"?
