SFC /Scannow Cannot Repair Errors
Being new to this forum, excuse any incorrect requests... Anyway, I have a Lenovo PC that started having very long boot up time (greater than 12 minutes). Have checked everything possible, no Malware found, viruses, Trojans and so on. Tried all that I know to try and fix problem with no luck (except reformat and reinstall). Even upgraded MS7 Home Premium to Win7 Ultimate in hopes this would correct extremely long boot up. However, when I run sfc /scannow, again it says system file problems found and cannot be repaired. NOW HERE'S THE KICKER... If I shut down the PC (shuts down normally), for a couple hours and then start it up, it will take more than 12 minutes to boot to desktop (stays at loading windows screen longest), then goes to desktop and HD continues to run for a couple minutes then short cuts finally load before becoming stable to start programs, open folders, etc. However, if I do the same thing (power down a couple hours), reboot the machine, then when starting windows comes up, do a 'hard shut down' (hold in the power off button); then after the machine shuts down completely, when II power it back up it comes to the "Windows did not power down correctly" do you want to start in safe mode or start normally selections screen. If I select 'START NORMALLY', the PC will boot up within a minute or two at the most. Likewise, if I do a restart when the system is up and running, it always boots up quickly. It's only when the PC is shut down for a while (couple hours or more), that start up takes more than 12 minutes to happen before the PC can be used. If anyone can provide help it would be appreciated since I have exhausted everything I know to try and fix the problem (clean boot, diagnostic boot, selective boot, MS Fixit programs, etc.) Thanks in advance!
