Disk space usage for system restore constantly resetting to 50% of HD

It just keeps going back to this setting. I know about it and regularly adjust now, so it's more of just an annoyance now. But it caused me to reinstall windows twice before even thinking of this problem.

I'd really appreciate any advice, and sorry if this isn't the correct subforum.

Two things come to mind just using my 3 brain cell memory.

    1. Avast causes the problem.
    2. Some sort of cloud backup program.

I use Steam so that backs saves up to the cloud and I'll search around for the issue relating to Avast too.

It seems like there is a fix located here [SOLVED] Avast & System Restore causing serious issues - Sysnative Forums

I'll try this out tomorrow because I need to head out soon, but I would not have guessed Avast. Thanks again

Look in all programs because many of they come with some sort of trial backup to a cloud and you don't even know they are there.

Also take a look in what is scheduled.
Some times a auto backup program has a schedule to send a back up to the cloud every hours, let say. It will change your setting and save data there waiting for your scheduled backup and then send it.

I remember reading something like this somewhere but I can't remember where.
I read hundreds of post per day.
