I updated my hard drive from a 500 gig to a terabyte and down my computer is running alot slower. I also installed Windows 7 Enterprise (32 Bit). I am using DDR2 Ram, with 6144 Mbytes, the total physcial memory is 3.24 gigs. Can anyone help me in resolving the speed issue??
you have 6gb of ram installed, but you are using windows 32bit.. that could be one reason you running slow, as windows 32bit will only show 4gbs of ram.. you need windows 64bit to have windows use and show all your ram... swapping hard drives should not slow your system down... was it a brand new hard drive or a used one??
Exactly true, that you need 64-bit windows. Also, first check the SMART status of the drive and repair the issues. And, since you have 1 terabyte of hard drive, so it is very hard to maintain it manually. So, use good antivirus utility like Avast or AVG and computer cleaning software as well.
Monster 212, The hard drive was new and I had Windows Vista (64 Bit) running on it, with the same problems. Also, I am a former Help Support Tech for HP Computers, I have tried everything to remedy the problem that I know of. One more thing while checking my drivers in Device Manager, I have my Processor listed twice!! That's not right is it??
