Maintenance for cpu and thermal grease

Hi Folks, just a general question, I have my desktop pc for about six years, is it a good idea to remove the cpu fan and clean off the old thermal grease and apply new grease, I have not had a problem with over heating but its so easy to do on a desktop pc, what is the recommendations, I have done it on a laptop and its a pain in the neck, Thanks.

    Hi
If it was me I would wait if not having any over heating then no need to replace. Can if you want can't hurt. The paste will dry out over time. So it might be a good idea to change it.

I change the thermal paste on the cpu and gpu about every 3 years whether it needs it or not. Because I change hardware more often then that in most cases it doesn't matter.
If I had a system that the thermal paste hasn't been changed in six years I would change it and clean the inside of the case completely at the same time.

Thanks for your reply's,oscer1, and Layback Bear, Yes I will change the thermal paste, if it was a laptop I would have second thoughts, But a desktop is so easy, Thanks again, Patch41.
