i would be interested to hear your Word CPU usage experiences, Twelc. Mine ranges from 46% to 50% and causes letters to appear up to a second after i type them. Now THIS is driving me insane... It is a clean install too!

Oddly, i have accessed the same doc on my netbook and it runs absolutely fine with no lag.

Does anyone know would might cause this? Could a printer driver be at fault or an altered normal.dot (the only changes i have made to/affecting Word that i can think of)?

Just had the lag problem in word - whilst typing, CPU usage seemed to be around 50%.

If I have the time tomorrow, I'm definitely putting Vista back - I can't take this anymore, it's too irritating!

I dont believe it. A week or so after reinstalling W7 and getting Windows Explorer back to its smooth running and it is once again reverted to laggy responses. Gone is the instant folder opening and i am back to 1 sec waits for every folder to open. I have not changed or installed anything so why on earth would W7 performance get worse over the course of a week?
This is so frustrating and never happened with Vista, its supposedly more buggy predecessor. What a waste of money...

I was going to re-installed vista last weekend, but my vista DVD does not work anymore (I blame my laptop's DVD drive which is very temperamental) so I went for a re-installation of Win 7.

No problem at the moment with explorer (haven't used Word much yet), and I check every time after I install a new software or change any setting. Will see if the problem comes back..

    What a waste of money...
yep - I miss the days where I got it free through MSDNAA!

    What a waste of money?

GUNJIN you say " by nuking my Windows 7 installation from orbit " . By Orbit do you mean this is a pirated version? if it is its possibly something to do with the patching of that install so i think its a bit much to be moaning "What a waste of money" LOL.

    Maybe you meant something else

    Need more info.

It would help to see a screenshot of the task Manager Processes Tab to see just what is running after startup.
