Random freezes requiring Hard Reboot

Updates are installing as we speak, last few times ive managed to get a few dozen installed before it crashes again.

Only missing driver atm is USB controller, display driver is NVIDIA Geforce GTX 760, which is correct, but likely not fully updated. Chipset is AMD RD9x0 Rev 02. I have no idea how to check Sata controller.

Ram has passed memtest several times

Instalation media was my Win7 Ult disk, no clue on latest version

Ill check the sata controller setting in the BIOS, Im fairly certain that the BIOS is up to date, but having just wiped and reinstalled, I suppose that's in question

I switched the HDD from IDE to AHCI, and that hasnt seemed to work. I had to reinstall windows again, and it's crashing during windows update again

Can you try another hard drive? Strange that there were no freezes with HD disconnected running on boot disk.

Crashed again with a different HDD, wondering if the pepermint thing wasn't a fluke.

Are you overclocking?

Do you have four sticks of 4gb RAM installed? Try running with one pair at a time, then add another if there is no problem. That amount of RAM is a red flag.

You can stress the CPU to try to induce the condition by running Prime95.

Next you can stress the GPU by running FurMark: VGA Stress Test.

If you can change out your video card, or unplug it to use onboard chip, this may be revealing.

Did the condition occur before you installed AVG which is problematic bloatware now?

Did you change out the AV and monitor core temps from Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7 ?

It's 2 sticks of 8, im currently running with only one, ill update shortly. Ive run prime 95 and furmark, though i may not have let them run long enough.
I dont have another video card to use, and my MB doesn't have on board video.
This problem definitely occured before i used AVG, and i only used it briefly.
Im not currently using any AV, though id be very suprised to learn that not using an AV is causing my computer to unrecoverably freeze constantly, and i have no clue what my core temp should be on an octo core running 4.7 ghz

The tutorial suggests to install Core Temp to monitor temps in system tray. It shows what the Max is for your CPU.

I'll let you catch up with the other skipped Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7
since these often turn up the problem if completed.

In that case, it's max is 90 and im ranging from 25-60 at any given time

Ok, the culprit seems to be Error ID 10010, but a cursory google search turned up very little as it pertains to Win7, mostly focusing on Windows Server or XP.
Advice?

If you're performing Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7
it specifically says to search the error's verbatim text and number. So we would need to see the actual text of the error and not just the number.

If this is not what you're doing perhaps you should explain in full what you are doing?

How did you come upon this error and what makes you connect it to the issue?
