Quadcore I7 Laptop Battery Doesn't Show Time and Wears Out Quickly

Laptop is sager np2740.

8GB RAM

Samsung 850 Evo Series 250GB

Intel® Iris™ Pro Graphics 5200

Intel Dual Band AC7260


When i first got the laptop many months ago, it was pretty fast. Battery was pretty good as well not charged. Now... not only is the battery much worst, sometimes i see it would go from say 15% ... then few minutes later my laptop would shut off completely. This never happened before because 15% still would be 30 minutes or so left. Then i have the you have 10% and then 7% battery left so I then go and charge it quickly.


Not only that, but now it never shows how many hours are remaining whether charged or uncharged. It would show back then say 80% and say 3 hours remaining etc. Even when its 20% battery, it would show 40 minute left. Now it doesn't show any minutes left and the battery wears out very quickly.


Can someone tell me what i can do to check if anything? Also i never removed my laptop from the sager np 2740 because you need a screwdriver to remove it unlike my other laptops which you can just take the old battery out.


The only thing i can say is back when i got the laptop, i didnt play poker at all but since i been playing again, i been using it heavily with lot of programs.


I got this laptop mainly b/c its 14.1 and very fast i7 quad core. And not only do i have battery problems... the laptop now is much much slower than when i first got it. I had posted 2 logs of it earlier in my other thread but i didnt get reply back. I like to know however why my battery is like this now.

I'm not that familar with Sager but is there a battery software that's preinstalled by them in addition to the Win7 Power Options? Look through your All-Programs list at every listing to see if you can find it, open and look at all the settings to see if there's anything that could help you. If in doubt post back a screenshot of the available settings so we can help you choose. Screenshots and Files - Upload and Post in Seven Forums - Windows 7 Forums

If not in the Win7 Power Options, choose a Balanced Plan with Default settings. Power Plan Settings - Change

Run for awhile to see the difference, but if the problem persists I would check online with Sager to see if there is a battery recall or notice which is not uncommon. Laptop batteries can last for as little as a year, and rarely last for more than 3 years unless they come with a setting that extends battery life like my Lenovo that keeps it charged only to 60% when its plugged in.

In addition to getting control of the battery using every available setting in software or Win7 Power Options, sluggish performance can be due to bloatware or accumulated programs starting on Win7's back. I'd establish a Clean Boot right off which can regain a lot of performance, then work gradually through the other steps to Clean Up Factory Bloatware.

If that isn't enough go over the PC thoroughly following the Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7.

And if this is the original factory install, you may be overdue for a Clean Reinstall Windows 7 which is almost always better than getting a new PC considering that they come with all the larded-on bloatware which causes users to never even experience Win7's native perfect performance. So there is the chance to go from worst to the very best with our help, as have over a million others without a single complaint.

I dont know where is the energy report...

My power options are basically balanced or high performance. My settings are the same when i first got laptop, it had zero issues many months ago.


However i did break the ethernet port in my laptop as i jammed my charger into the wrong slot though that should not be related at all? I do know that i didn't have this problem even when this happened... this battery issue and the laggyness of my laptop alll started happening when i downloaded a bunch of big files...

Hey... when i got the laptop i didn't do any factory reset b/c there was no bloatware according to sager when i got it. Well obviously it definitely had some bloatware but even if it did, it wasn't bad at all when i first got it...

Pauly, are you going to start on the steps I gave you? If you'll report back results as you go we can work interactively on them to try to find your problems. You haven't answered a single question I asked or reported back on any of the steps yet I gave you except cleaning up bloatware which steps will optimize your PC in any case.

As to the energy report which you ran on your own, it gives you an address so you can browse to that folder to read the results. If you want to copy and post it back here for us to look over for you, then paste it in the code box using the icon above for #.

Greg would u suggest me just do a clean format then no matter what? Right now my battery has a red X to it and says consider replacing your battery.


I think whatever i do hear, i still have to format it since its very slow would u agree on this?

Sure, doing a Clean Reinstall Windows 7 is always better than getting a new PC, especially if you never had one on there to begin with. You'll experience Win7 performance for the first time!

What's important though is that you slow down and read the steps so that you understand them and don't miss any. If you stick with the steps, tools and methods given, then you'll get and keep a perfect install for as long as you do.

am i suppose to type that in start menu? If so, it shows error nothing found...

How about in Start Menu click on Computer, then C, then Windows, then System 32, then energy-report.html?
