    Explorer.exe Corrupted/Damaged. I Need a replacement.

My explorer.exe got corrupted/damaged by malware. I need a replacement. I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate x64. Can any of you provide it?!

Before you do so however, please run cmd in elevated mode ( right-click cmd, and click: run as administrator ) with the command:

    sfc /scannow

After its done and explorer.exe is confirmed as undamaged/not corrupted (by getting this sentence/line in cmd: Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations. ) copy and provide it in .rar format, via dropbox.

Your time and effort is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

P.S: Explorer.exe is usually found in: C:\Windows for windows 7 and windows vista user(s).

P.P.S: Please only provide a replacement if you are running the same OS and your PC (Windows) is up-to-date!

Is the problem on the computer you are using for this?

The explorer.exe file is pretty much the core of Windows, if it is not present or is not exactly correct Windows usually isn't running. [The executable file for Internet Explorer is iexplore.exe.] My explorer.exe has a size of 2805KB and a file date of 2/24/11.

For the dropbox part it usually is best to first compress the file to .zip format to assure it doesn't get messed with. Computers running different languages may be an issue, don't know for sure, mine is USA English.

The explorer.exe is present in: C:\Windows.
It needs to be replaced though because its corrupted/damaged.
    My language is English (US).
You can see the issue in the attached file: sfcdetails.txt
    P.S: My explorer.exe size is: 2.73 MB (2,871,808 bytes)
    Last time it was Modified/Accessed/Created was: 10. ‎september ‎2012, ‏‎9:31:02

As this portion of your text file shows you have both versions of the file as being corrupted:
Version = 6.1.7601.17567, pA = PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE_IA32_ON_WIN64 (10), Culture neutral, VersionScope = 1 nonSxS, PublicKeyToken = {l:8 b:31bf3856ad364e35}, Type neutral, TypeName neutral, PublicKey neutral in the store, hash mismatch

Could be you are facing a reinstall of Windows.

I have a second copy of explorer.exe in C:\Windows\SysWOW64 with the same date as the one in C:\Windows but the size is smaller at 2555KB. The file in C:\Windows is the later by about an hour, probably was part of an update.

The last line of your text file says
2015-03-02 00:46:36, Info CSI 00000355 [SR] Verify and Repair Transaction completed. All files and registry keys listed in this transaction have been successfully repaired
. I wonder if running the command again will produce the same errors or not?

Here is the updated sfcdetails.txt. It says pretty much the same thing. However in cmd after the process is done was this sentence/line:

Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log %WinDir%\Logs\CBS\CBS.log.

So I don't think that it was fixed m8.

P.S: The one in: C:\Windows\SysWOW64 is 32-Bit and the time it was Accessed/Modified/Created is the same. Also note that I am running Windows 7 not Windows 8 and its up-to-date. So it should be the same across all Windows 7 Ultimate x64 user(s), shouldn't it?!

If I had access to an OS disk, I wouldn't be posting here, would I?!

Though if you do, maybe you could do it and then post it here, or share it in a .rar file/format via dropbox?

    Any assistance is welcome. Thanks.

Guess I missed it in your System Specs [incomplete] as to whether you have a brand-name computer or a custom-built computer. Makes a difference as a custom computer usually has the disc with it while brand-name/OEM computers use a factory restore partition or have a program to make the restore discs or have the discs as an option when ordering the computer.

Thanks it worked. By the way, the pc is custom but it came pre-installed with the OS and the provider is a private Computer Store which is 60-70 km away from my apartment atm. But this was much easier. Once more thanks guys Shimshom and Berton. I'm gonna run sfc one more time, to make sure. P.S: Shimshom could you provide the one from SysWOW64?! Its 32-Bit but its corrupted as well, replacing it with a clean one (provided by you) would be great.
