    Webpage loading time

If this should be in the General Discussion forum, please move it.

Windows 7 Home Premium x64. Intel Mobile Core Duo SU7300. 4GB RAM. Using Chrome Version 36.0.1950.0. Results of SpeetTest attached.

From the time I launch Chrome (or any other browser) and the browser appears, it takes 10-11 seconds for my homepage to load (my.yahoo.com). I've tried other sites such as ighome.com and Bing News with the same results. Once loaded, if I click on a link a new tab will open and the page will load in 2-3 seconds. Just curious as why it takes my homepage so long to load and if there's anything I could try to speed it up. Thanks in advance.

Try cleaning you cache. It may be the cause of the slowdown. The first time you go to the page after cleaning the cache, it may be slow. Boot the computer and then try again

For Internet Explorer: On the Tools menu of your Internet Explorer toolbar, click Internet Options.
    1. Click the General tab.
    2. In the Temporary Internet Files area, click Delete Files, and then click OK.
    3. Click OK to close Internet Options.

Thanks for the reply. I cleaned all 345MB worth of files > restart and unfortunately didn't help the loading speed problem. Closed and relaunched 3 times and each time was approx. 13-14 seconds with ighome.com trying to load the content and Bing still at 11 seconds.

If anyone runs into this issue, disable all extensions or add-ons that scan incoming content for ads, malware, etc. Depending on the extension/add-on it can easily double or triple the amount of time it takes for a page to load depending on the website. Disabled mine and things loaded in 2-3 seconds. Enabled and it takes 10-11 seconds. Probably won't work for everyone, but did for me.
