That looks like a network disconnect. It's hard to read the XML. That's why I like the "in window" select/copy and not the copy on the right pane.

Continue with the list. Check the versions of the updates to your hardware drivers. If the driver updates weren't applied, apply them. I wouldn't worry about the BIOS if it's up to date.

If the disconnects continue and the Gigabit driver is up to date, repeat the wire checks mentioned before. If it still continues, check on a motherboard RMA.

Forgot to mention:
This explains the ISCT. I would leave it disabled. The BIOS entries should be explained in your motherboard manual.

Would one solution to this be to disbale or remove it? Below are the connection ports I have on the machine; am I correct in thinking I have the Ethernet cable in the correct port? If so is the other one redundant?

On the list of drivers on the Gigabyte website, neither the VGA drivers will install, as I "don't meet the minimum system requirements"...

Last question: can you explain "repeat wire checks" to a techno-idiot? I didn't quite follow it. Do you mean turn the router on and off or reset it completely with the button on the side?

"Wire checks" as noted in #3 of the list. That's probably not necessary now since the error is saying it's disconnected and it is.

That motherboard has two Ethernet ports. The errors appear to be initiated by the first adapter. If you're not using it, remove or disable it in the Hardware Manager. Better yet, check the motherboard manual and see if there's procedure for disabling it. Such as pins or switches. (Or in the BIOS.)

Verify the Model AND Revision Number of your motherboard. The problems with drivers could be associated with an incorrect selection or you selected 32-bit drivers. I have always had problems navigating the Gigobites site so I used your initial link for my post. My security settings have never worked there and I'm not changing those for one site.

Checked right through the manual and online and could find nothing about disabling it in the BIOS, so just did it in Windows; no change, still the 40 second delay.

Spoke to the wonderful people who built it (Quiet PC) and they are going to take it back in and take a look. Probably have to wipe the drive and it will cost a bit in couriers, but at least it will be fixed.

Hi Car,

Last thing then I'll bite the bullet and send the machine back. Windows update doesn't like this driver, could that be something to do with it? Not even really sure what it's for.

That update is for Advanced Format Disks and is pretty old. There's a seemingly unrelated quirk associated with this update. It requires three other updates to be installed first. Check your update history for these three updates: KB2515325, KB2522422, KB 2492386. These must be installed first then a reboot.

That Management Engine Interface may be related. It's the backdoor update firmware/software. It's not needed unless your PC is part of an IT network that applies updates but I've heard that some software may depend on the drivers. I disabled that hardware portion of my PC right after I built it. I don't particularly like the idea of it even being there. It allows your PC to be turned on remotely for updates.

Right click on the flag in lower right corner of the desktop and select Open Windows Update. In the left pane, click on Check for Updates. It seems you may be behind in Windows updates and this will force a review.

Forgot to mention: You may want to Unhide updates first and review the list. For some reason, you may not be getting all updates. Perhaps someone is being TOO selective.

You should find in under Install Updates.

No hidden updates on here, all other updates applied other than the Intel one that wont install. There's also now more Errors in Even Log, some of which mention Intel.

KB2515325 and KB971033 are installed, KB2522422 and KB 2492386 not installed.

It's possible they don't apply to your system.

If they don't apply to your system you can just hide them and Windows Updates will stop bother you with them.

If by chance you are still using I.E. 9 that needs updated to I.E. 11. Unless you have a good reason not to.

Is this a company computer? The reason I ask is your system specs show this.

I'd like to remove anything and everything relating to networking from my PC if I knew how, as it never has and never will be part of a network - I just want it to connect to the net and that's it.
