Why does my system seem slow and restarts take 30 seconds?

From clicking restart to being back on the desktop takes 30 seconds. I though it would boot faster with an SSD installed. My entire system seems slow. I tried running the Windows Experience index (I know it's not a good indicator of performance) and it keeps failing saying it can't check memory.

Anything I should be looking at? Running memtest maybe?

    1. Ensure Windows is updated.
    2. Run a clean startup and see if its quicker:

Golden's has a very good idea with Clean Startup. I have a question.

What Restart speed do you think you should get and why?

Yes I have noticed you have very nice hardware.

    Is this related?

With Windows 7 Professional installed with all the updates and a couple programs, I have 328GB free of 476GB. This is about 148GB. Is that "normal" for an install?
I was able to install the games to the D: drive. The games I have are from Steam and I just installed Steam there and the games followed. The Steam folder is 36GB.

148 + 36 = 184GB. It looks like I could install everything to the SSD and just have the HDD's for save games and files/documents.
148GB seems too large to me - I can install Ultimate and a full MSOffice2010 suite on a 60GB SSD.........perhaps we should look at your Disk management screen too.

I think a picture of msconfig/Startup and Non Microsoft Services might give a clue.

Did the Samsung Magician software come with that drive ?

Did you install it and optimize the drive with it ?

Windows is fully updated. I can post screen shots later, I'm at work right now. I didn't use the software that came with the SSD.
