PC Life and High Performance Power Plan
1.Can using the high performance power plan shorten the life of a computer? Or does it just use more energy?
2.Does it affect HDD performance and life?

It won't "wear it out". It will use a slight more energy.
I use my PC for my Recording Studio and have it set for high performance. The only thing I do is "power off" the monitor after 30 minutes. The PC (desktop) is a home built and almost 3 years old. No signs of any issues (e.g. fans) because of the power plan I'm using.
Well for me, the main use for this computer is for gaming. Is it fine as long as temps are fine?
