    Customizing Autoplay

    Hi,

I have an IDE hard drive hooked-up to my computer as a storage drive only; connected by USB via a Rosewill external drive adapter.

Whenever I turn the drive on, Auto-play pops up asking 'what to do'. It dawned on me that I could change the setting in Auto-play to make the drive just 'show all files' instead of clicking it every time, so I made that change in Auto-play. It worked like that until the next boot-up and now it's back to the nag screen.

The settings change that I made is still holding/apparent there, but it quit working.

    Why/What ? Help ?

I think if you assign a drive letter to that drive, reSet autorun, that might work. It's been a while since I ran across that problem, so please report on the result.

I already assigned a drive letter and name to the storage drive. I know sometimes we need to re-tell windoze stuff, so I undid, saved and reset the command in autoplay, saved and no fix.

I did the previous proceedure again and unticked saved, reticked the check box at the top and it does it now but the Autoplay nag pops up first and scans the whole drive then opens to show the files, i just want it to get to it.

What in the equivalent service (in win 7x64 ult) to 'Indexing' ?
