Win 7 Pro Corrupted: WU, Troubleshooter, SFC failed
Hello!
![]() ![]() It is SO similar to this thread, in fact I learned a lot from reading it Corrupted System File SFC Can't Fix My system is HP E9260f. I have been trying off and on since January to repair. Just before this time, I had a hard drive failure. But it would intermittently work, so I imaged the drive onto a replacement. (WDC WD10EZEX-00BN5A0) 1 TB Drive. The system seemed to work fine, but then... Here are symptoms -Windows Updating not working -Troubleshooter fails wherever called on -SFC /Scannow has files it cannot repair -Windows Repair downloads for WU do not help -I ran Hijackthis and sent through hijackthis.de. (I'm including that file) -Now in the past two weeks my system is warning me that I may have non-legit copy of Windows. (I bought this system new with Windows 7 Home Premium, and paid for upgrade to Pro. I'm 100% sure it's legit) I have run from F8 Safe mode with Networking - Malwarebyte AntiMalware - Panda Cloud Cleaner - Panda Security - Free Online Virus Scan - Antivirus Software - Trend Micro USA - MS Security Essentials won't install What additional information will be helpful? Hijackthis? Logs? Thank you so much. Raphael |

Even though you don't want to do it, you're best bet is to backup then do a clean install, add SP1 and all updates then start moving your data back and install your programs.
Take the positive outlook on this and see it as an opportunity to install only the programs you want or need. Yes it takes time but in the long run you will be much better off. That's my $.02 worth ![]() |

Hey, there is a known issue with a recent Windows Update (KB3022345), it causes an irreparable corruption. If you have this update installed then do one of the following:
- Uninstall this update (it is Windows 10 preparation update) - Run the fix from The Tech Cookbook – Windows 7 update (KB3022345) causing corrupt files Pursue the issue further if you still have corruption afterwards. |

Ztruker: I think that is wise advice put ever so nicely. I am going to heed it and start on that path. I just ordered a replacement drive to put in the machine, and move my main drive as secondary to restore from it
![]() GokAy: thank you for your suggestion. That update never made it to my system. So that's a no go. Thanks though! |
