    Incredible random slowdown

Hi! I did the clean install of Win 7 last week, and now I'm finding that very often, everything in my system slows down. If I click on a program icon, it will take around 20 seconds to start. When I try to drag something on the desktop, it stops half way and freezes. Win Explorer freezes way too often. I can't open IE cause the window stops responding as soon as it opens. Once I'm inside some programs, the response is sloooow.... for instance Word... saves take forever. I have gotten all new and compatible programs for Win 7, expensive move but I thought it would help but it doesn't. The computer used to run fine with Vista 64, it was always super fast.
Please, somebody help me, I'm terribly frustrated and I need it to work! I wouldn't want to go back to Vista, which I don't think I can do without buying it and I'd feel stupid doing that.
I'm not a computer pro, so use normal terms when you explain it to me, please :)

    Hi and welcome.

Sure. This will probably be not too difficult to fix. But then again....heh.

What you want to do is visit Intel's site and look for a Windows 7 driver for your video "Intel G33/G31 Express Chipset Family."

If you don't find one for Windows 7, you can use Windows Vista driver instead.

Install whatever you find, then reboot the computer. Let us know how it goes for you.

    Edit - Install this driver.

If you installed Windows 7 64-bit, use this driver instead.

Thank you so much.... but it didn't work
I downloaded the driver, and tried and clicked on it to install it. First I get a message that says: "This file should be replaced with the correct readme for the build"
I click next and then it tells me the driver is not validated for this computer.
I tried to update the driver from device manager, and it tells me it has the latest drivers installed.
    What else can I do?

Try uninstalling the old driver first.

You may have used the wrong driver. Try the other link I gave.

Ok, it worked when I uninstalled the old driver... what a scare!!! Everything went BIG! Lol!! (First time )
Anyway, the good news is the screen is back to normal, the bad news is that the programs I had problems with, still have them. Word is still slow saving, and opening a document. My Paint Shop takes forever to open... IE just does not respond, it just crashes as soon as the window opens. In short: no change!
    Help??

If this is a recent problem, you may want to try system restore, somethin is corrupted.

I was able to fix IE by setting it to the default settings again. Now it seems to be working. I still don't know about the other stuff. Unfortunately, the slowdown has been happening since I did the clean install of Win7. Before that, I had done the upgrade from Vista64HPremium, and everything was running fine, except for some other problems I was having... so you think I could fix it by doing the Win7 install again? I don't want to have to reinstall everything... again...what's your opinion?

You could try with the install disc, again. But, this time early in the process, when it asks check repair, that may work.
