Acer 5749 Series Laptop: Slow Performance and Freezing Up
Today, I was on my sister's computer and she was too. The computer became very slow and was freezing up. The same thing is happening on our Windows 8.1 desktop.

I have just recently ran full scans and defrags. The computers found no threats.
This computer is having a hard time logging off and shutting down now. Any help? Any suggestions? Can someone look at this thread?
Try a clean startup - Troubleshoot Application Conflicts by Performing a Clean Startup
You can also check the Registry to make sure:

Okay. Thank you, GokAy. I will try that the next time it does it. Both computers seem to be running fine today. They have a mind of their own.
