    Cached Memory Question

Hoping someone can shed a little light on this subject.
First, I understand what cached memory is and what it is use for. So please don't go into details about why I should leave page memory and all that other stuff alone.

My basic question is this: Every morning I run RamMap and I find the same set of videos files taking most of all my cached memory (12 G). I mean they are the same every morning. I did not play them or even touch them in any way, they just seem to end up in cached memory. I have excluded them in my nightly virus scan.
To me it seems like a waste of cached memory for windows to place unused files into cached memory.
Any help in try to solve this mystery would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Rip

I think the most reasonable explanation is that the files are being accessed in some way you are unaware of.

I would tend to agree with you. The problem is I have turned off all scanners, disabled all media players and make sure nothing is actively running or is scheduled to run. For the most part the system in in an idle state all night.

I have an other system (a Laptop) that has two disks in it, one SSD and the other an old system disk that I never use anymore. What I see on that system is standby memory fills up with exe files that are local on that drive, don't know why that is happening either.

What I'm going to tonight is disconnect it from the internet all together and see what happens.

Well, I found that Plex was running a maintenance task every night at 2AM and ending at 5AM. Due to the task starting and ending at the same time it would always leave the same movies in standby memory.
I though I had stopped the Plex server during debug but I forgot about the auto run in task scheduler. Dummy me.
    Anyway thanks,
