Free Up Disk Space After nothing worked

    Hi,

    I have a vaio T, with windows 7 ..

500 GB disk space, and the idiot who made the partition gave 25 GB to the C disk, that contains windows ..

Long story short, winsxs kept eating up the space, till I have absolutely nothing left now, and I can't even work, I can't see thumbnails, I can't open up images ..

I'm in online marketing, so I need this for my work ...

So now I freed up like 200 mb by deleting the download folder from the ServiceDistribution folder ..

But there is 900 mb taken by service pack 1 update thingy, and 2 GB+ taken by windows updates ...

I disabled windows updates, I just want to free those 3 GB so I can work with this computer for another year, till macbook air with retina comes up so I don't have to deal with this crap again ...

Now, when I use the disk cleanup, those files appear etc (3 GB to be freed), I click OK, it says do you want to delet these files, I click OK .. it runs the load bar for 30 seconds and so, and it closes, like it worked ..

But when I check the disk space, it just didn't work, sometimes it ends up eating like another 50 mb instead ...

I did scan disk couple times, defragmented ... nothing is working ..

Is there any method I can delete these files manually somehow ?

I'm really fruustrated and have work that needs to be done.

    Really appreciate any answer.
    Thanks

You say you have only 25 GB devoted to C.

I assume your hard drive is larger than that and that you have some other partitions.

Why can't you steal space from those other partitions and add it to C?

A screen shot of Windows Disk Management might help.

Screenshot definitely - Disk Management - Post a Screen Capture Image

Also run Disk Cleanup (there are a few tutorials)- Windows 7 SP1 Disk Cleanup Tool, you can tick everything safely.

    Hi,

    Thanks for answering ...

Yes I have a lot of space in the other partitions (not now but I can free some).

    But is that possible ?

I remember when I tried to deal with the issue a while back, I read that you need to reinstall windows or something ?

If there is nother way to do it, then I'll just stick in another 25GB to C = problem solved!

    But how exactly ?

    I remember now that the computer when it came, had C and D .. c with 25 GB, D with 450 I guess ..
And I think I played around trying to add memory to C and I couldnt do that .. I ended up with another disk S that I took from D ...

But adding to C wasn't an option if I remember correctly ..

    Thanks

EDIT : I used CCleaner before as well ... still not enough space

    Yes, it's possible.

    With one of two applications.

Which you can use depends on your screen shot of Windows Disk Management.

Which you have not posted and need to do, per Gokay's tutorial in his post #3.

After you post that, we can advise you.

I am not sure if you have SP1 installed, leave out Disk Cleanup for now

    Hoochiemama!!!

    Dynamic disks.

What do you think about that Gokay?

Probably got to get rid of them and go back to basic partitions?

I think PW can do it, but with data at some risk?
