Winsxs on a rampage.. Solutions?

    Your best solution is a full wipe and fresh reinstall of Windows, applications and drivers.

    It helped the issue but after letting the laptop idle for about 30 minutes it already ate up all the gained free space again. Wish someone would have some info on what its doing here. The computer wasn't even online and I did a chkdsk /r prior to this and it found no issues.

    Process Monitor might show you what app is writing to winsxs.

    Filter on Path > Contains > winsxs

    So its HP quicklaunch. No clue what to do to clear it up tho. Atleast I know what program went crazy. Thanks for the above info.

    You could ask HP about it. HP caused the problem. HP should solve the problem.

    Or

    Back up your data. Format the drive. Install W7. Avoid HP bloatware.
