Solved 54 Task Scheduler corrupt or tampered with tasks. Best way to fix?

Task Scheduler seemed to be running fine, I then upgraded to W10. Too many problems brought me back to W7 64 Pro. Task Scheduler then seemed to fail. I tried to open TS and had to go through 54 instances of:
'**.Task either corrupted or tampered with' before I could get to TS! Some of these 'errors' were dated the day I upgraded to W10 so may be a few left overs that refer to W10 which has now gone....

After closing all 54 warnings I tried to set a basic task and received the message 'Task Scheduler Service is not available' Tried again later and after the 54 errors the basic task screen appeared so maybe ok or maybe not.
Anyway, I have printed off various solutions from links to Microsoft web sites recommending deleting references in C:\Windows\System32\Tasks and corresponding registry key ID's in the registry.
I would guess that as they are corrupted they would not run anyway, but some look like they should not be deleted, for example: Backgroundsurveyor, SystemParaProviders, SessionAgent, AutoWake, WindowsBackupMonitor, AutomaticBackup, SvcRestart, UpdateRecordPath and others.

I can of course find them all and delete the references in both locations but would prefer a safer option if there is one, 'cos I don't fancy a reinstall just yet!

I have run sfc /scannow which returned the message errors were found but was not able to repair them.

It looks like a long distance deleting session or I wondered about using my W7 installation disk to carry out a 'Repair' install and if this is a better option, or, would doing it that way would work okay or result in more problems with installed programs and my W7 settings?

Tutorial. I downloaded the Task Scheduler file and ran that, launched TS and still had 54 corrupt or tampered with files :devil:


Unless there are any suggestions it looks like a repair install or if that fails a new install .

Same problem here. Just buyed used Thinkpad T420 from local dealer and it has windows 10 installed. Wanted windows 7 so dealer downgraded to Windows 7 pro 64bit. Everything else is working fine but when i open up task manager i get about 20 warnings about corrupted tasks. Ran SFC but it did not find any problems.

Be interesting to see if the same errors are left behind after your revert from W10 to W7.

I have downloaded the file but not run it yet, up to my proverbial eyebrows at the moment. Did you find any problems and were all the problems corrected?

It looks like the 'Silver Bullet' and just what I need

Program corrected about 20 problems and there are no more error messages when opening up task manager. There are still five errors which program was unable to fix but since those errors don't give any error messages i'm not so concerned.

List of fixed and not fixed problems is included as attachment so you can compare if you have same errors.

Yip, your error listing is virtually the same as mine, even to the ipconflict1 & 2. We have different hardware so some errors are specific to our systems. I think they were errors inflicted at revert back to W7. Thanks Microsoft :devil:.

I tried your suggested link. It recovered all but 3 (As below) which I probably messed up somewhere. Anyway that program is fantastic, took seconds to fix around 50 Task Scheduler 'tampered with or corrupt' errors; not days that the long winded MS site suggested.

Current errors as reported by Repair Tasks:

Cannot find either 'I:\Tcpip\WindowsParentalControls' or 'I:\Tcpip\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\WindowsParentalControls'
Recovery of task Microsoft\Windows\Tcpip\IpAddressConflict1 failed with 'ERROR: No mapping between account names and security IDs was done.(19,8):LogonType:'

'I' being the HDD I saved the task scheduler copy to.

I tried importing the IpAddressConflict1 & 2 files but TS failed so more investigation needed.

Task Scheduler now opens without a single error message. .

Seems to be quite common problem when downgrading from W10 to W7 so Microsoft should release fix for this, but guess they don't care...

I had exactly the same problem after upgrading to Windows 10 then back to Windows 7 Pro 64 because of problems in Windows 10. Microsoft techs have been working on my PC for many days, but when they recommended a clean install and I couldn't run a backup, I balked. That's when I found you guys. The downloaded fix repaired about 30 corruption errors on my PC. Many, many thanks guys.
