    How to Use GParted?

Can I use GParted to create a 200MB partitioned to the LEFT of my windows partition so that I can use the Windows backup program on a dual boot configeration (without destroying my dual boot MBR configuration)? Windows7 is on a seperate physical hard drive and Vista is on another physical hard drive. The reason I can't use the win7 backup program is because there is NO 200MB partition at the beginning of the Win7 Disc.

Are you sure that's the reason you can't use Windows System Image program .

    Seems extremely peculiar to me.

Plenty of people don't get the 100 mb partition.

Looking at your screenie - I would think it insists on backing up both the Vista partition and the 7 partition.

Why not make the 7 partition " system" and see if that does it?

Sorry I sent the wrong screenie.....here is the correct creeenie. As You can see the Win7 partition is the system partition. Win7 and Vista are on two seperate hard drives. Without that 100MB partition on the Win7 hard drive my win7 backup program doesn't want to run.

How do you know it is because you don't have the 100mb partition?

More to the point, why are you using Windows backup - there are plenty of others.

If you want to find out - sure you can create a 100mb at the start of the drive and make it "system". Not rocket science. It does mean you will have to move the entire contents of the 7 partition 100mb across to the right - partition program will do it for you. Seems a bit drastic - at least there is only about 20gb on there.
