Not 100% the processors affect it (I can't imagine it does tbh), so you can test that yourself and see if it affects it, but I think the available memory is most likely the cause of it.

Without a doubt that is your dual card SLI set up using that memory. Don't believe me?, just remove the second card then reboot and see what happens. This is typical for SLI.

Well that's not happening for me. And if that is typical, this is the first SLI setup I've seen it happen on.

I've had SLI for over a year, and it just started happening. It's not SLI.

Update.. SOLVED!

Yes guys, it was the msconfig changing that I did. I've always changed the boot tab's advanced settings to use all 4 cores, and max memory, but I've since learned that doesn't DO anything, and that it's there for error testing reasons only and not to boost performance.

if anyone's done msconfig and changed the boot tab to use all 4 cores and max memory. it will cause this error or whatever. So i set them both back to default and everything is ok now.. lol.

I do have a question though guys. On the boot tab in msconfig, does changing the boot timeout from 30 seconds to 10, or even 5 seconds help? I've always set that to 10, but does it do anything? or no

It only does something if you have multiple operating systems or force the menu to show. That timeout is for when it will select the default option if no input is received before the timeout.

I do it for every one of my personal computers, but I also add a separate line for booting into Safe Mode. I set it to 7 or 8 seconds. In this way, by the time the countdown is actually displayed, I have about 3 seconds to react before it boots to the default boot. That's perfect for me because if I want to boot into Safe Mode for any reason, 3 seconds is plenty of time to press a key without having to panic and pound on F8 and hope I get it just right, but at the same time, 3 seconds is short enough that I don't get impatient waiting for the countdown to complete.

Of course just having the menu display adds a few seconds to over all boot times, but that does not bother me as I tend to like knowing what's going on anyway.

Yeah I do similar. My 2 pcs are always up so boot time is not a factor.

One machine I'm on now is up for 27 days and 7 hours!

My other main machine in specs is up for about 6 or so now.

And both have had multiple video driver updates installed during the time.

You can use EasyBCD to further customize boot screen menu.
