"chkdisk is designed to use that much memory when you use that /r switch because you would only use that command if you're trying to confirm the possibility of an imminent disk failure."


chkdsk is a good tool, I have seen hard drive tests fail and then pass after chkdsk...it is not a last resort, in fact chkdsk c: /r has fixed 25% of the boot to windows issues I fix every day...if every PC user ran chkdsk and defrag once a month, we, as IT techs, would have less issues to fix...

CHKDSK will not clear dirty tag after chkdsk c: /r ?

Can't get chkdsk to run...
I need to run chkdsk /F on my system (C) drive, and thus far I've been thwarted. I've tried two ways: In windows explorer, right click drive C and select properties > tools > Error checking. Tools Chkdsk with no /f /r says errors, bootup chkdsk says none
AHCI disk. Running chkdsk from Properties Tools with no autofix says there are errors. Dismount the drive and reboot. Chkdsk reports no errors found. Properties Tools Chkdsk still syas there are errors. Auslogics Defrag also says there are errors.
