That first listing is just plain silly!
It looks like you've been downloading all the fixes I've posted for the last few weeks and expanding them to that folder.
Please delete the complete folder.
The repeat the download of the skmab file and expand it exactly as instructed - this ensures that the files are correctly placed for the command to work properly
Reboot to the Repair Environment
The run the command as above again, AFTER running this command...

Interesting! I manually checked C:\windows\winsxs\smkab and the smkab folder is indeed there, now, but it is empty ( about 4 kb ) whereas the source C:\smkab folder is about 200 Mb.....question as to "why" the XCOPY that I ran created the C:\windows\winsxs\
smkab folder, but NOT the contents

The real question is why have you been downloading all those fixes designed specifically for other people?
They are NOT appropriate for you, and could actually harm your install.

Noel.......The latest SFC ran through to completion without any integrity violations !!!!!!!

Believe it or not, I thought that all those files (all 200MB) were just for MY fix, not just the smkaa and smkab files. Your could have been some kind of disaster.

A very big "OOPS"......However, for some reason the C:\smkab (all 200 Mb) did NOT get transferred to C:\windows\winsxs\smkab the 1st try when I was finally able to get into a "repair prompt" (I lucked out).....Also, I'm glad that I made an image backup, yesterday, before all this happened and I received the needed Windows 7 installation/recovery disk in the mail.

Anyway, after the latest "repair" per your instructions, I checked the "C:\windows\winsxs\smkab" folder and sure enough...the (1) AMD file was indeed present, (4.5 Kb)

It appears that YOU have fixed my problem.....I'm am very, very thankful and grateful for your wonderful expertise, help, and EXTREME PATIENCE (I hope I didn't give you too many gray hairs in the process). I'm attaching the latest CBS.log file for your inspection.

Best regards,

General Discussion
Did sfc /scannow have errors.
So I did the sfc /scannow on my wifes puter. Got to 2% and had errors the scan stopped and that the errors could not be fixed. I looked at the log and am not sure what this means. I am using Windows 7 home premium. Thanks for any help.
