Windows 7: win 7 hibernates immediately when plugging off

win 7 hibernates immediately when plugging off

I just uploaded Win7 and I have a big problem.

It IMMEDIATELY hibernates the Laptop when pulling out the cord to run on battery.

I changed the advance battery settings that the Low level is at 10 and the Critical is at 5% instead the original 99-98% settings

If I turn back the Laptop again I'm able to run it for another 30-40 min, I didn't had the time to check it. (My battery is old, but with XP I was able to run for 40 min.)

And my power meter always shows 100% even if it shows 1h:37m or 37m to drain.

Any thoughts, ideas, suggestions well appreciated.

I would go and check compaqs website to see if there is a new bios update and also check the bios to see what thats set to.

Windows 10, Home Clean Install

DarkXeno is giving good advice. If it does not work, the only advice I can give because I am not familiar with the problem is. Set your puter not to go into sleep or hibernate. Boot up. Then reset. computrs do whatever they want at times.

Sulution Found!

Did Bios update, same thing, reset same thing, no luck. But thanks for the effort!
BUT Found the solution!>
In the local group policy editor>
Start>type gpedit.msc in the search box and select the group policy editor program.

Expand Computer Configuration>select Administrative Templates>All settings>

There is the Policy > Critical battery notification Action.

I set it to Take No Action.

So when I plug out the cord it stays on. I'm happy.

Then the problem!

Win7 Battery Meter thinks that my Battery is depleted, is in critical state, says 0min left (100% charged) although I know for sure that is still can do 30-40 min. So its completely inaccurate.

Any thoughts on this now? What's next?

Thanks guys!

windows 7 ulitmate x86

I have a dell d630 with nvida m135 and a T7500 cpu. Installed W7 ultimate x86 and everything looks fine, but
whenever I use the restart funktion windows logs off, then shuts down rather harsh. All other
power funktions seem fine, hibernate and standby all work. Anyone saw this problem?

Due to a recent crash that damaged the registry file I had to purchase a new hard drive and OS to go with it. Instead of using Vista, which had been the OS on this computer, the installer (and savior of my files, etc.) used Windows 7 Professional. I'm admittedly not savvy of these things, so asked...

Keep getting BSOD, when laptop shutsdown or hibernates?
Hello, I recently had to reinstall Windows 7 and I did so after completely reformatting my hard drive. It was a clean install, with no other startup HP software. However, now sometimes my computer will crash when I close the laptop, or if it runs out of battery and trys to hibernate. I have...
