When I click the user's name, I only have options to view their profile or view their posts. I don't have a PM option. (Maybe because I'm a new account?)

I believe there is a time frame before you can PM, not sure exactly how long.

I just sent him one for you though.

    Apologies, for being late...

I believe 10 posts is the magic number, and you may need at least the badge; Leon, if you want to, we can ask questions here to get your post count up. You'll only be 3 away after you answer this one.

Derek, thanks for being an intermediary; Good show!

Thanks for contacting him, derekimo. I appreciate it. :)

It's a long shot, because I don't think he's been active for a while, but it's worth the try. :P

I'm having the same issue as described in this thread and I'm using a GTX 770 Card and I get the exact same thing happening as displayed in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rwy39mids2Y

Is there any fix for this? I notice that as already mention it does not appear when Aero is turned off though I have other screen tearing issues when resizing or moving windows when I have it off

Edit: I might have found something that works. I went into the Nvidia Control panel and changed the energy saving function to use maximum. Going to see a few days if this fixes it, hopefully it could work for other people.

    Hi all,

i know this is an old thread and all, but i started it and i started googling this problem again after installing my new hardware. ANd i bumped into this thread again LOL
Recently bough a new motherboard, CPU, memory and the problem is still present lol.

    New hardware..
    Intel skylake 6700k
    16gb of corsair savage memory
    Asus ranger VIII z170
    Nvidia GTX 970 Gaming 4G

I still have to replace the screen and the ssd, i hope one of them will be the source of this problem.
I just spend 900€ for nothing..well not for nothing, its obviously faster and all, but still tearing in context menu's, steam, some elements of the windows 10 UI like other context menu's for icons on the task-bar, the info bubble also tears from time to time. And not only when using you-tube. It's really annoying!

Microsoft just lets u run in circles and points u to useless websites etc..tell u to reinstall, even when i tell them i already did ALL of that. Some people send u google pages, but believe me, i googled for weeks maybe even months before i posted here!
There's almost NO other post's on the internet about this problem. But i am clearly not the only one, and it's not limited to a particular GPU or windows version! I usually am pretty good at troubleshooting my pc-probs, heck i even installed computers for a living for some years, i'm no noob. But this problem has beaten me now for almost a year.

This is what it looks like when hovering over menu's in Google Chrome for example!

ANY help would be greatly appreciated!

    Have a nice day

    Some thoughts:

    • Are you staying with the GTX 770 Graphics Card; What drivers do you have installed for it, the v320.18 drivers? There are newer ones (click on start search), but it can be time consuming to try them all. Not sure, but sometimes an older driver may work.

    • Have you preformed a Furmark test? Clicking on the download link takes you to a Geeks3D page where you can download the program, a virustotal scan gave the download a 0/53 detection ratio this stress test can tell you if your card is okay, my main concern is the memory on the GPU, but look it over it may have cracked/cold/loose solder joints. By the way, custom build? How's the paste under the CPU, anything running hot?

    • I looked into whether or not AMD CPUs and Gforce cards were compatible and there were mixed reviews, some say you shouldn't and Gforce runs better if you have an Intel CPU, some say it doesn't matter, I also looked for compatibility between those two and your gigabyte MB and there were mixed reviews there too. The only way you could tell is if you had a supply of MBs, CPUs, and GPUs to rotate out to test, but that can get expensive $$ $$ unless you have a friend that can loan you some.

    Related:

    • You should have enough information between the Furmark site and Boozad's tutorial to determine if your having problems with the GTX. Boozad's download link takes you to majorgeeks if you're more comfortable with that.

    • I don't know what's up with the furmark site saying the download is v1.15.1 and the geeks3d is 1.17.0, but I've seen other sites with 1.17.0 so I imagine its okay, the majorgeeks is 1.17.0.0 and virus total is still at 0/53 for majorgeeks.

    OK..i edited my previous post!
My BAD! I forgot to mention i also bought a new GPU a couple months ago -> Nvidia MSI GTX 970 Gzming 4G

My temps ° are all good.
The new hardware is running nice and cool.
It has to be a faulty SSD -> PSU or my screen.
But when i connect the pc to the TV, it's still there.
That kinda rules out the screen imo. I could try to get a new DVI cable...then again, when using a HDMI cable on the tv it doesn't help. So probably not the cable

Next purchase is gonna be a PSU + SSD + fresh install of Windows 10 - wish me luck lol
