Extremely slow after 7 reinstall/ downgrade from 10

I recently upgraded to 10, and ended up with my system locked up at a blue screen with automatic repair failing. I tried system restore repeatedly to no avail, and after trying to reset the system, lost the OS. I recovered it finally using my restore discs for 7, but now it's slower than it's ever been. Any suggestions that doesn't involve downloading more software? Task manager is also looking kind of strange. In the screen shot attached, top shot is from yesterday, bottom is current. I just want my system to be responsive again. Thanks in advance.
