    Windows 7 Randomly Slow

Hi everyone. I've run into a major problem and have tried many fixes out there to no avail. My PC randomly started behaving very sluggishly the past few days. Boot ups take forever and when it finally does boot, everything is very slow and stalls whenever I try opening even basic things like folders and the start menu. I can't even boot into safe mode or recovery without having to wait 15 minutes, at least. I've attempted to run disk clean ups, defrags, registry cleaners, etc. and have tried manually reinstalling drivers. Restoring to previous points in time isn't possible as I delete those. I know I shouldn't, but what's done is done at this point. The issue started occurring while I was playing The Old Republic with Razer Cortex activated with boost mode to enhance my gaming experience. I noticed some sluggishness while gaming and decided to give my build a reboot. After doing so, this whole thing started. Any suggestions on how I can fix this? I really depend on my build for my business and need to get it solved as quickly as possible. Thanks!

Have you tried running a defrag & also disk clean.

Also check your disc for any corrupt files by opening Command Prompt & enter "sfc /scannow" and then hit enter.
See what this resolves back with.

Also how old is the build of Windows on your computer.

Disk cleanup and defrag were already run. I'm currently running a sfc scan as we speak. It's at 24% and has been running a little over a couple of hours now. Took a couple of tries to get it working. First time I entered it in, it came back with "Windows Resource Protection could not start the repair service." I tried again and it started successfully. I'll post results once finished. The OS was installed a year ago on a brand new hard drive. Never had an issue like this before.

The scan is finished with the following result: Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.

Any idea what else could be done?

Their is no way a sfc /scannow should take that long and come up with no problems found.

I would suggest the next step would be completing this tutorial by Brink.

    Disk Check

How much free space in on the hard drive?

Booted up my build and noticed I was getting a message saying, "Failed to connect to a windows service." After doing some google searching, it seems corrupted log files are to blame for this issue. The supposed fix is to run command prompt as admin and enter "netsh" followed by "windsock reset" and then performing a reboot. This didn't work for me. However, I did read some instructions at the bottom of the first page in the link below and it seems to have dramatically improved the issue I was having. I'll test things out and see how everything runs, but I think this is the answer to my problem. Thanks! :)

Well, it seemed to working pretty well for awhile there and then it suddenly got slow again. I'm stumped on what I should do at this point.

    Your first posted problem was
    Windows 7 Randomly Slow

Now you post are about not being able to connect to a server.

Exactly what are you trying to do when things are slow. Is you system slow all the time or just doing some things. What are those some things.
Yes I have read your first post but it is somewhat confusing to me.

    Did you try this?
    Disk Check

Do I understand correctly that you are playing games on your business computer?

I'm just laying out all of the details of what I'm experiencing on my end. Figured it would help get to a resolution much easier that way. Also, everything is slow. Boot ups, loading anything on the OS while its booted, and shutdowns. BIOS isn't slow at all though. Just the OS. So it's not a hardware issue. I did do a disk cleanup, defrag, check, registry clean, and memory scan. I've booted with a clean boot (no extra background services) as well. It's not a business computer. It's my own custom build that I use for everything from basic web browsing to gaming and also use for my business. I'm self employed, so the computer is completely mine.

The reason for my questions and recommendations is because with your system specs if everything is slow it very easily be your hard drive.

You could also try another mouse for testing. Some have reported that the Razer Cortex mouse has been causing problems. I have read some post where the problem is slowness of the computer.
