Black screen with cursor after Windows Logo, takes time to fully start

Recently, when I start my computer, the Asrock splash screen appears, followed by the pulsating windows logo. Once this is done, it moves on to a black screen with only the cursor visible. The cursor is movable but no key commands seem to do anything. Eventually the desktop appears but it can take up to two minutes and seems to be getting longer every time. I was also looking at my event log and found this entry: "The Religious Religion service failed to start due to the following error:
The system cannot find the file specified." I'm not very knowledgeable on the subject but "The Religious Religion service" sounds a lot like a virus. I'm not sure if these two things are connected, and an AV scan has turned up negative. Thanks for any help.

    Welcome to our forum Joecalone.

This is what I find on (Religious Religion service)

Did you knowingly install such a program? As you can see their are many.

With my computers I would consider these a NO NO and remove them.
