    Problem with wuauserv

    Hello Forum
While investigating why my PC is slow, I opened Task Manager and saw CPU 100 % and memory about 80 %, it was the " wuauserv" service, so I stopped it (I know this prevents updating windows) and CPU went down to normal up to 26 % and programs loaded and acted faster.
After a while, again programs started to slow down, again opened the Task Manager and don't know how this service started running again somehow. I would like to be more of control on this matter, because it is annoying.
Hope I made my question clear enough and hope to solve this problem.
I am the only user of this PC.
    Answers will be appreciated

    Hello Forum
The "wuauserv" is running again and loads the CPU up to 100%, again I stop it in the Task Manager, but after some time it runs again and slows the machine, How can I stop it until I decide to make a windows update ?
I know I an asking again because it starts to be a problem.
    Thanks for any answer.

This sounds similar to a problem I have had to fix on more than one of my pc's. I even have the page bookmarked as I may need it again and it took a while to find this info after all of the ideas that did nothing. My prob was usually just maxed out memory which of course freezes up your pc the same as maxed cpu. This may be causing your cpu problem also. From what I could glean it is related to a windows update process. Look into this info. In the Second solution there is a link to a MS hotfix and a couple pages into that MS page are the links for the download. I don't think this is automatically installed by update. Good luck.
